DO NOT BUY!!!
I purchased two days before travel to familiarize myself and contact tech support for activation questions but they have yet to answer my calls or return my messages. I spoke to their customer service who promised to have tech support call back but they never did. Finally arrived at Milan, Italy, and inserted the SIM chip which failed to work. I tried calling the support number with only an automated message that the number did not exist. I ended up buying a local SIM chip offered at the airport and it worked right away. Do not waste your money on this product like we did.

The instruction could have been clearer, but tech support was excellent. Worked great in Italy
The instruction coming with the card was not very clear. I had to contact the tech support after arriving at the hotel. The support response was fast and the setup was easy with the correct instruction. After that, it worked great in Italy. I wish it had worked right after the plane landing.

European 5GB prepaid DATA ONLY Sim Card.
I just used this card for 2 weeks in Italy, Spain, Gibraltar and France. Great value for money. Be aware it can not be used for regular phone calls, but calls can be done through WhatsApp, Viber, FaceTime etc. iMessages also works. It takes some time for the card to start to connect initially- about 30 min. So, better to have it inserted already before you landed in Europe-in this case it should be working by the time you ll be leaving airport. For the France – you have to read the instruction – and follow it – setting should be changed there and then changed back if you go to another European country – also takes time for the card to connect when you change the setting. I was worried about ordering Uber because there is no European phone number provided for the card – but it worked perfectly (by the way there are different names for the companies, but Uber application can be used for it)

Easy and Fast
I read so many reviews before purchasing this one. But it turned out to be so easy and fast for me. I had no problem install it when landed just need to restart your phone and wait a bit. I stayed in Belgium and The Netherlands for 12 days, traveling with no interruption. The data was stable and fast. I managed to only use less than 2.5g data.

Did not work at all
I could be get this card to work at all in different Android and iPhones. I found that the British company Giffgaff worked great in England and France. Get on Giffgaff’s website to order a from SIM card to the USA then log on and make an account.

Works in UK and EU
Worked well for a one week trip that included London, Paris, and Rome. Definitely would repurchase for future trip. Very handy for using gps on long walks in Europe.
To get it to work, turn off airplane mode and connect to WiFi at airport when you arrive. After you put the SIM card in, just wait and it should sync up and start working on its own. For going in and out of France, you need to wait for it to connect again. Italy gave us the most trouble, but after waiting a few minutes, it started working on its own. Patience and donât panic. We didnât need to contact customer service.
My husband put this in his iPhone, and I just used WiFi wherever available because it was unnecessary for us to have two phones with data.

Did not work in France even trying the instructions
Did not work in France with the instructions. Signals are weak everywhere else so it was such a huge pain. Even using GPS was not great and sometimes you have to sit and wait for stronger signals in Spain and Italy. I would not buy this again.

I put the SIM card in my iPhone SE on the flight to Stockholm. Turned the phone on arrival and the SIM card connected automatically to the Telia network in seconds. My phone worked very well used mostly for Google Maps tourist navigation in Stockholm, Helsinki and Tallinn. Also used for Internet and email over a 12 day period in three countries; always connecting to Telia. One caution: on the second day, I noticed unusual very large data usage of 1 GB. Thereafter, I simply put the phone in airplane mode when not using. Total data usage over 12 days was 3 GB. I will buy this product again. PS. One can monitor data consumption in the Settings. Cellular data usage. Reset cellular data statistics to 0 when changing the SIM card and then monitor as you use. Very simple.

I spent 3-days in France, at the end of October 2024. This SIM card is advertised as working in France. Which it did NOT. Didn’t work in Toulouse, Montauban or in the direction of the Pyreneas. And it cuased me tons of problems not having a data connection… There was no French carrier at all. The eSIMsmart logo appeared on the top left corner of the screen, but still no internet. I then spent a day in Spain, and it started working with Orange as the carrier as soon as I crossed the border. So, it definitely was not a technical problem from me or my phone. Pretty sketchy product in my opinion… DON’T BUY

I bought this prepaid SIM when we travelled to Europe. I would have tried an eSIM but my phone doesn’t have that feature. The package came with brief instructions, tri-cut SIM (to be compatible with older smartphones), and a SIM tray push pin. This is a data-only SIM, it doesn’t have a phone number! If you plan to use smartphone apps that require a phone number (to validate or for MFA purposes), do not use this SIM.
The SIM worked in the countries (Denmark, Sweden, U.K., Portugal, and Spain) we visited.
I turned off my unlocked smartphone just before our plane left Toronto. Upon arrival in Copenhagen while in the immigration line up, I inserted the SIM before powering up my phone. I checked the settings to make sure that Data Roaming is enabled (this is important). It got connected to data few seconds later.
It worked well even using my phone as hotspot (for my tablet to connect to the internet). I observed that it is best to restart your phone when going from one country to another especially if your cell data setting “Automatically select network” is enabled.
5GB allowance is more than enough for two weeks. However, this SIM allows you to top-up (but I didn’t try). I used about 4GB just because I was using it as a hotspot when wifi is unavailable. I used it mostly for browsing the web, read/reply to emails, and yes – watch YouTube videos. I didn’t try video calls. Connectivity is 4G (sometimes LTE) but not 5G.
Not great when using it from a cruise ship. I have read this comment already in one of the reviews so no big deal for me. But once we were near or at port, it was great even inside the ship.
I will definitely buy this Prepaid SIM again when I travel to Europe.
– It is a lot less expensive than using your own Canadian service provider.
– It gives you smartphone data access once you arrive at your destination.
– No need to be looking for a brink-and-mortar store to buy a local SIM (which I used to do our earlier European travels).
My smartphone is an unlocked Pixel 3a (Verizon version – this version doesn’t have eSIM).

Purchased the 5 GB dataroam- European Data SIM Card for C$21.47 (including taxes) in August 2023 for travel use in Switzerland. The card provided good service as noted in the Amazon description. My travels in Switzerland took me to the regions of Interlaken and Luzern where I was able to use my Iphone8 for internet access without any issues.
Just before landing at Zurichâs Flughafen Airport, 1) I Confirmed in settings that the Cellular Data Option the âData Roamingâ was selected. 2) Powered down the phone and inserted the above mentioned 5GB SIM card and powered back the phone. 3) The card searched for a network and by the time I got my luggage i.e. in about 30 mins the phone was on the 4G network provided by Salt. From that moment on I had full access to the internet during my stay and travels within Switzerland, be it on the trains between cities or at places like Schynige Platte (elevation of 2,099m or 6886ft).
In Interlaken the phone switched between the networks of Salt and Sunrise without any interruptions, while in Luzern and Zurich the phone was on Saltâs network. It should be noted that mine was an iPhone and I believe the card should work the same on an Android phone. The card is valid for 30 days from the time it first connects to the network.
I primarily used the card to access my emails, check train schedules, Google searches and maps and use phone apps like WhatsApp for messaging and phone calls and weather apps to check the weather.
On landing at Toronto Pearson, I noticed that the card was connected to Rogers network and the time on the phone was updated to local time and I was able to use the internet. Looks like the card is universal.
The package that contains the card comes with instructions on it on how to setup the phone. Additionally the package also contains a QR code which will take you to a more detailed setup instructions that can be downloaded as a pdf and printed.
Pros :
Easy to setup, cheap, no activation fee,
Cons:
Canât top up, no SMS messaging or phone calling capabilities, no way of knowing the balance on the card unless you contact the Tech Support.
The Tech Support, when contacted via an email, promptly provided the balance on the card when cardâs serial number was provided.
